Centurion American Development Group is pushing forward with the next phase of its $1 billion transformation of the former Collin Creek Mall, more than four years after first breaking ground.
For years, Plano residents have wondered about the status of the nearly 100-acre site just west of U.S. 75. Although Centurion started work in 2021, delays piled up. Sean Terry, vice president of entitlements for Centurion, said an $80 million drainage issue was the main reason, while additional setbacks came from the Covid-19 pandemic, design revisions and rezoning approvals. There was also a legal fight between homebuilder Megatel Homes LLC and Centurion’s Mehrdad Moayedi over ownership stakes in the project, although a Centurion spokesperson said that did not factor into the delays.
After a nearly two-year delay caused by a contractor not being able to complete the drainage work, things began to pick up in late 2023 with the start of residential construction.
